Living in Nassau/Paradise Island

Located 185 miles East Southeast of Miami, the island of New Providence is home to more than half of the nation’s residents. Occasionally visitors to The Islands of the Bahamas like to take a day off from the beach and explore our Islands. With so many activities available on Grand Bahama Island, you may need to spend more than one, is the centre of the Bahamian government and is located on the northeast shore of the island of New Providence. Sitting just a ¼ to ½ mile off the north coast of New Providence, and forming with it the beautiful Nassau Harbour, is the renowned Paradise Island and the “Lost City of Atlantis”. The islands are connected by two bridges and together have much to offer visitors including pristine beaches, duty-free shopping, posh resorts, dazzling casinos, exciting attractions, historical landmarks and water and land sports of every kind.

In the centre of the city of Nassau is Rawson Square. Its Colonial style pastel coloured buildings, erected in the early 1800s by Loyalists, house the Bahamian Houses of Parliament and other government offices. A stroll down picturesque Bay Street into the quaint shops will tempt you with local and international crafts and goods ranging from handmade lengths of batik to Fendi bags and Rolex watches.
