Attractions on the Islands of Fiji

Residents and visitors of the blissfully secluded Islands of Fiji enjoy unsurpassed natural beauty full of sunny coastlines, pristine bays, mountains, and tropical forests. The islands’ main attraction is its limitless opportunities for outdoor recreation. Whether you enjoy hiking and bicycling, exploring seldom seen terrain, boating, snorkeling, sports or even just lounging quietly on the beach, the Islands of Fiji are more than accommodating. And for avid golfers, the golf courses in Fiji are some of the best in the world, including three international championship courses on Viti Levu—the Denarau Golf Club, the Pacific Harbour Golf & Country Club, and the Fiji Golf Club. The major sport of the Islands of Fiji is rugby union; the nation has teams in both the International 15’s (Fiji is currently ranked #9) and International 7’s, in which Fiji has won the Rugby World Cup Sevens twice.

In addition to its many outlets for thrill seekers and sun lovers, the Islands of Fiji offer excellent shopping, dining, and entertainment experiences that make for a casual afternoon or evening “on the town.” Many Fijian shops and boutiques are located in colorful marketplaces and feature everything from high fashion to handmade crafts to fresh fruits and vegetables. Likewise, dining in Fiji is full of variety with popular cuisines from all over the world served in five-star restaurants and casual cafes. The signature dining experience on the Islands of Fiji entails feasting on foods cooked in a “lovo”—a natural oven that cooks food wrapped in banana leaves on heated rocks underground.
