Theodore Alabama is a small town with a population just over 6800, easily found on Hwy 90, with lots of access to I-10 (three exits 15, 13, and 10) in the southern part of Mobile County. Theodore is considered part of the Mobile Metropolitan Area. Located 15 minutes from downtown Mobile, 10 from the Mall, and about 20 in either direction from the state line (Mississippi or Florida) it just might be the most convenient place to live in Mobile County. Of course, once here you may never actually need to leave because Theodore is complete with its own stores, banks, restaurants, beauty saloons, public library, etc. Here you will find one of Alabama’s most popular tourist attractions, Bellingrath Gardens and Home, a 65 acre historic water front estate famous for its stunning gardens and annual “Christmas in Lights” display. It is also home to the Mobile Grey Hound Park. Visitors and residents to the area can enjoy River boat cruises or just the water in general. Theodore is situated on the western shore of Mobile Bay and has many wonderful water front communities along Dog River, Fowl River, and Rabbit Creek. These communities, both waterfront or not, can fit any budget from below $100,000 to over $1.5 million. There are four public elementary schools, one public middle school, one public high school, and several private schools. After school activities can be enjoyed at TTCA or TAA little league ball parks, the Theodore Chapter of the Boys and Girls club, or at one of many dance studios.
