The 1st public school, the 1st mill in the area, the 1st Black Masonic Cemetery in the U.S., and the 1st free public library were all established here. Uncle Sam was born here. The developer of the drink “Moxie”, Francis Thompson, and the renowned sculpture Cyrus Dallin lived here. As the gateway to Lexington and Concord, Paul Revere’s ride passed through here, and in 1775 many Minutemen lost their lives in the Battle of Menotomy as the British were retreating from Concord. Arlington has always been a desirable and trendy community to live in.
