Situated in Southern New England, Cumberland, RI is located in the upper right corner of the state near the Blackstone and Abbott Run Rivers with a short 50-minute ride to Boston or a 3½ hour train ride to New York.
The nine tiny villages of Cumberland are based on the original mill villages during the days of water-powered-mills. The continual evolution of industrial and commercial growth has given Cumberland a favorable tax base and revenue to enhance the quality of life, but preserves much of its original rural charm.
A welcoming atmosphere for new residents – Cumberland’s pristine country setting has many attractions which include The Monastery on Rte 114, Valley Falls Heritage Park, Diamond Hill Vineyards which offers tasting, tours and picnic areas, Diamond Hill State Park and The Blackstone Valley bike path which runs along the Blackstone River.
