Bradbury, California is located between the Cities of Monrovia and Duarte, nestled against the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. Bradbury covers less than two square miles and is perhaps the smallest city in Los Angeles County. What the area lacks in size, it makes up for in being mostly pastoral and vastly picturesque. Roughly 300 homes represent Bradbury, California and are located within two gated communities, consisting mainly of equestrian or rural estates. Its residents take great pride in their community. The streets are owned by the homeowners, for which they pay an annual maintenance and security assessment. Most services are provided by outside agencies, such as the Duarte Unified School district and the Los Angeles County Sheriff and Fire Departments. There are no commercial or retail properties located in Bradbury, it is solely a residential community.
The City founder is Lewis Bradbury. In 1892 Lewis Bradbury acquired 2,750 acres, on which he built his home. The site is now home to Royal Oaks Manor, a retirement and nursing home. Bradbury was incorporated as a city in 1957.
