Newbury Park, the City of Thousand Oaks, and all of Ventura County, CA offer a long list of attractions that range from shopping and dining to surfing on the coast. One of things that makes the Conejo Valley such a fun place to live and visit is its vibrant and active arts community. The Arts Council of Conejo Valley arranges program and events that make it easy for residents of all ages to enjoy visual arts, theatre, dance, music, and even literary arts throughout the year. Special events within the community include the Annual Thousand Oaks Arts Festival in the fall and the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival in the summer. The premier arts venue closest to Newbury Park is the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza—the largest performing arts center between L.A. and San Francisco—featuring the 1,800-seat Fred Kavli Theatre for the Performing Arts and the 394-seat Janet and Ray Scherr Forum. In addition to the region’s fantastic cultural attractions, Newbury Park and the City of Thousand Oaks are well known for their gorgeous natural setting and abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. Newbury Park residents can enjoy year-round outdoor activities with mild average temperatures that range between 65 and 75 degrees during the summer and 53-69 degrees during the winter. The community is adjacent to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, and the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency maintains more than 14,500 acres of open space and more than 75 miles of trails. Ventura County has three beaches for public use—Faria Beach Park, Hobson Beach Park, and Rincon Parkway. Other key nature attractions in the region are the Conejo Valley Botanical Garden and the World of Gardens. There is also plenty of golfing in Conejo Valley with over 20 public and private golf courses within an hour drive of Newbury Park and The City of Thousand Oaks.
