The history of this small town is very much entwined with its neighbor, Clermont. The Lake Minneola Scenic Trail is the number-one priority trail in the Rails to Trails program. The 21-mile corridor in south Lake County is being developed in four phases and, when completed, will serve as the link between the West Orange Trail (Orange County Line) and the General James A. Van Fleet State Trail (just west of the Sumter County Line).
