It may seem odd to find Switzerland County in the middle of Indiana but after being found by Swiss immigrants in 1802, Vevay quickly became one of the most blossoming communities in Indiana and remains a bustling community. It became home to the first commercial winery in the nation, which is still producing after all these years. Vevay still holds a four-day Wine Festival every year. An Amish community has a small piece of the city all to itself. It’s the county seat of Switzerland with little bits of business making its way into its area even though most of the stores are independent and quietly owned and maintained by local artisans.
