Walton, Kentucky’s slogan is “The Place to Be.” Today, this “rural community with a modern twist” appeals to homebuyers in search of rolling countryside, rich farmlands and horse farms. Housing choices include ranch, contemporary and traditional two-story. Several new subdivisions are breaking ground. Wildcat Run, a new subdivision, will add hundreds of new homes to Walton; more when the old beef cattle and tobacco farm is transformed into a home site. There are banks, churches and schools here. Businesses and industries include Faurecia Automotive, SpecSoft Inc. (web printing); Vertical Systems International and Boone Steel Corp. The community is part of the Walton-Verona Independent Schools, with a drop rate of zero. St. Joseph Academy, a parochial elementary school, is here and parochial high schools are nearby. Concerts on Main, Old-Fashioned Day Festival, Easter Egg Hunt (features 2,000 eggs) and Christmas on Main Parade are some of the popular community events. Shopping in Walton is close by at Florence Mall. A Kroger Marketplace on Mary Grubbs Highway is in the offing. There’s a Veterans Memorial to honor men and women in the service. Founded in the mid 1790s, Walton, KY was a promising railroad community in 1869.
