Merrimack is located in Hillsborough County of southern New Hampshire. The town of approximately 26,000 people is conveniently located along Route 3. From here it is one hour to Boston, the seacoast, or the mountains.
Parts of the town remain very rural but there is also quite a bit of industry, most notably Anheuser Busch and the Budweiser Clydesdales. Merrimack is also home of some of the area’s major employers including BAE, PC Connection, Fidelity and Kohlsman.
Merrimack has 3 elementary schools (Thornton’s Ferry, Reeds Ferry, Mastricola Elementary), an upper elementary school (Mastricola Upper Elementary), Merrimack Middle School, and Merrimack High School. Public kindergarten is also available.
Things to do in Merrimack include ice skating and sledding, hiking the Heritage Trail, and a variety of activities offered by the Merrimack Youth Association.
In the past several years, Merrimack’s location right off of Route 3 has made it a very desirable town in which to live. Many residents use the Route 3 corridor as the major access to Boston and the surrounding towns. Merrimack has many homes and properties for first time buyers as well as the newer neighborhoods of large and prestigious homes that are located on larger tracts of land with open space.
