Situated approximately twelve miles north of Cincinnati, Wyoming, Ohio is nestled in the hills of this bedroom community. Wyoming is home to about 8,000 residents who proudly enjoy the benefits of the stable atmosphere of a small town which boasts of its own city government, fire department and artesian well water. The Wyoming schools have long been rated among the very best in the State of Ohio. The home of the Wyoming Cowboys, the school system has three elementary schools, a middle school and a newly renovated high school where student achievements follow them to the greatest colleges and universities in the Nation. The Wyoming High School is well known for its art and music departments.
Wyoming is known for its citizen involvement. The City Fire Department, the schools as well as many other organizations, require community volunteers. The most outstanding volunteers are recognized in a ceremony for the Citizens of the Year.
Wyoming is also known for its meticulously maintained streets. The main streets are decorated at the corners with unique flower boxes, often used as the symbol of the City. The city square sits in the midst of the historical district. This area is filled with quaint little shops and several restaurants, including one with a gazebo, used for summer concerts sponsored by the Wyoming Business Association.
The homes in Wyoming range from newer homes to stately old Victorians, many of which are on the historic register. Due to the irregular terrain, many of these homes sit on interesting landscapes where custom homes have been molded into the land. The mature trees and winding streets give Wyoming a unique character. The slogan for Wyoming says it all! Come for the charm, stay for the friendships.
