Old Hickory, Tennessee, home of President Andrew Jackson and his wife Rachel Donelson. Jackson and Rachel began their own family in 1808 on the 1000 acre property now called The Hermitage. During the War of 1812, Jackson lead his troops back home to Tennessee and earned the nickname “Old Hickory” comparing his toughness to that of a hickory tree.
Old Hickory sits right outside Nashville with a population of 22,000+ residents and less than 10,000 households. It sits on Old Hickory Lake which is a popular boating spot for houseboats, wave-runners and ski-boats due to some 20+ launches/ ramps/ marinas.
