Though University Place was only recently incorporated in 1995, the neighborhoods that comprise it date back for decades. Taking its name from proposed plans to build the University of Puget Sound here, plans that were later scrubbed, University Place is a proud suburban residential community that dates back to the late 1800s.
University Place sits 50 miles south of Seattle, just to the west of Tacoma along the shores of Puget Sound. The city’s 33,000 residents enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Rainier and the Cascade Range, the Olympic Mountains, and Puget Sound. And abundance of outdoor adventures are just a short drive away.
Located in Pierce County, recently voted one of the country’s “Most Livable Communities,” University Place boasts a highly educated populace and some of the best schools in the area. In addition, since its incorporation, designated park lands have grown almost 50%.
