Everything from small city-like living in Oneonta to rural and picturesque Hayden can be found here. Established in 1818, thereby making it older than the state of Alabama, Blount County attracted Native American groups, settlers from all over the South and more with its enticing climate, landscape and natural setting. The word got out and Blount County is presently populated by about 55,000 people. Today, the original attracting characteristics remain the same with many more added to the list. Blount County is known for its beautiful parks, meadows and forests, rivers abundant with fun water activities, and “arms wide open” southern hospitality. Blount Springs was once the hot spot for an alternative kind of health resort. These resorts were centered around numerous natural sulphur, lithium, and arsenic springs. The springs can still be found, however the spas have been out of business for years.

Blount County is considered to be part of the Birmingham Metropolitan Area so living here and working downtown Birmingham is a popular option. Like many others in the community, the short 20-30 minute drive becomes a daily joy to have time to yourself and take in the beautiful lands and scenery around you.
