Welcome to Madison, AL

The city of Madison is part of Limestone and Madison Counties in Northern Alabama, located 13 miles west of Huntsville and only five miles north of the Huntsville International Airport. With a population of 37,000 people, Madison is part of a growing metropolitan area that boasts an abundance of career opportunities, as well as quality education and a long list of exciting attractions and recreation. Madison is a hotspot for Alabama technology careers, with the software company Intergraph as its largest employer. The city is close to Huntsville’s Redstone Arsenal, Nasa’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, and Cummings Research Park (the 2nd largest in the country), which employ thousands of Madison residents. Madison is home to one of Alabama’s top public school systems—the Madison City School System—as well as several private schools, including the Madison Christian Academy and St. John the Baptist Catholic School. Madison residents also have easy access to the region’s colleges and universities—University of Alabama-Huntsville, Alabama A&M University, and Calhoun Community College.

In addition to all the career and education opportunities, Madison residents also enjoy a variety of Madison and Huntsville attractions that are fun for the whole family. From the Early Works Children’s Museum and the Alabama Constitution Village to the Huntsville Botanical Garden and the Renaissance Theater at Lincoln Center, there is something for everyone in Madison-Huntsville. Because of the region’s focus on science and technology, two of the most popular attractions in Huntsville are the Sci-Quest Science Center and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, which is home to the U.S. Space Camp and exhibits the towering Saturn I rocket and a replica of the much larger Saturn V rocket. For outdoor enthusiasts, the Madison-Huntsville area is the perfect environment for sports and recreation, from hiking and bicycling to organized community baseball and football teams. Golfing in Madison and Huntsville is a popular pastime; Madison residents have access to over seven challenging courses in the area, including the beautiful Hampton Cove Golf Course, which is one of the stops along Alabama’s well-known Robert Trent Jones Trail.
