Also known as “One of the Fifty Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family”, Fountain Hills is a wonderful town right outside the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Fountain Hills actually sits in the McDowell Mountains at an elevation several hundred feet above Phoenix. The name of this city came about in the 1970’s when the town’s planner, a man by the name of Charles Wood, Jr, decided he wanted to have the world’s tallest manmade fountain as the city’s centerpiece. His master plan worked. That fountain shoots water 560 feet into the air, creating a geyser five feet taller than the Washington Monument.
Fountain Hills is populated by a variety of people including those who have earned their wealth and younger people who are establishing their fortune. There are also many different housing options including planned golf communities, patio homes, condominiums and custom homes. There are also more and more job opportunities as the city continues to grow and promote a greater local economy. Some of the growing industries in Fountain Hills include service centers, hospitality, research and development, medical support services, light manufacturing, distribution and warehousing, retailing and customer service.
But it’s not all work and no play. Fountain Hills has many attractions such as, hiking, sightseeing, camping and is home to the McDowell Mountain Regional Park, one of the largest parks in Maricopa County. There are also many art festivities year round, including two annual art festivals that attract more than 200,000 people.
