The City of Altamonte Springs, Florida
Altamonte Springs is the largest city in the county. Located in the geographic heart of Central Florida, the city is known for its young, upwardly mobile professionals. With the construction of the two-story Altamonte Mall complex in the early 1970s, the town became a magnet for national retailers, restaurants and offices. Its location on Interstate 4 makes it convenient to major employers, universities and area attractions.
Except for land set aside for preservation, Altamonte Springs is almost completely developed. Home selections range from modest bungalows with large, old shade trees, to luxury estates with acreage. Westmonte and Eastmonte Parks, softball, tennis and racquetball facilities, an Olympic-sized public pool and numerous lakes provide endless hours of recreation for residents and visitors alike.
Cranes Roost Park, at the heart of the Central Business District, is the focal point for business and cultural activity in Altamonte Springs. This beautifully landscaped park features a one-mile boardwalk for strolling or jogging, pedestrian plazas and a lakeside stage for concerts and special events. The park is staffed with park rangers, a horticulturist and an events coordinator.
Excellent city services, plentiful housing, quality education and a highly skilled work force all play a role in the city’s attraction of new business and industry.
