Welcome to Aspen, CO

The city of Aspen, located in central Colorado, has been known world-wide as a major ski destination since the mid-20th century. In the years after WWII, when skiing as a sport became increasingly popular, a Chicago industrialist named Walter Paepcke had a vision for creating a utopian ski community. In 1946, he founded the Aspen Skiing Company, which now operates the Aspen/Snowmass resorts, and attracts thousands of skiers every season. But Aspen is not only a destination for ski lovers; the natural beauty of the area has attracted many artists, musicians, writers, and intellectuals over the years, creating an eclectic atmosphere that is ideal for the mind and body. In the 1950’s, Paepcke established both the Aspen Institute, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to exploring contemporary issues free of partisan and ideological thinking, and the Aspen Music Festival and School, which now serves as one of the leading schools for young musicians, while exposing the community to classical music from all around the world.

Aspen’s welcoming atmosphere has long been a magnet to people from all walks of life who decide to call the mountain retreat their permanent home. Today the city of Aspen has a population of nearly 6,000 people, comprising of the famous as well as the not-so-famous. Full-time residents of Aspen are able to take advantage of the region’s year-round natural beauty, as well as the luxurious amenities a resort town has to offer, such as spas, galleries, boutiques and world-class restaurants. For those wanting to relocate to Aspen, the real estate market is full of prime mountain properties that are not only living retreats, but are living investments as well.
