Welcome to Bakersfield, California

Bakersfield, California is a unique area that remains one of the most affordable places to live in California. Located in the San Joaquin Valley, Bakersfield offers a blend of industries including oil, agriculture, and business. This generates a need for a wide range of homes from multi- million dollar estates on the Kern River to ranch property to town-homes and everything in between. As a growing community, Bakersfield is experiencing a large amount of new homes and commercial space being built.

Our location in the Central Valley means Bakersfield is only minutes away from Lake Webb, just a short 45 minute drive to Lake Isabella, and home to Hart Park where the Kern River flows at the base of the mountains. The Central Valley is home to award-winning California wineries, and Bakersfield is about 2 hours from Pismo Beach to the west (where off-road vehicles are allowed on the beach), Los Angeles to the south, and only a few hours drive to San Francisco or Las Vegas, Nevada.

A testament to the warmth of our community is that Buck Owens chose to make his home here. Bakersfield has produced other musical talents such as the rock group, Korn, and country music's Smokin' Armadillos. In addition, Superbowl champion, Joey Porter of the Pittsburgh Steelers calls Bakersfield home as do Rick Mears (of racing fame) and Frank Gifford, another football great. Speaking of sports, Bakersfield has a minor league baseball team, the Blaze, an arena football team called the Blitz and is home to the Bakersfield Speedway with another racetrack in the works. We are the proud home of the ice hockey team, the Bakersfield Condors.

We are also proud to offer opportunities for higher education. Bakersfield College is a 2-year college that offers a variety of associate degrees as well as community classes. California State University, Bakersfield is a four-year college that has an accredited school of business as well as being noted for its nursing program.
