Banks County is located in the Piedmont region of striking North Georgia. While maintaining a rural scenic character, it is only minutes away from Atlanta, Athens, and Gainesville. Today, Banks County is rapidly growing thanks to the increase in the retail and service industries located at Banks Crossing at I-85 and Ga. 441.

The municipalities in Banks County include Homer, Maysville, Baldwin, Alto, Lula, and Gillsville. This is a county rich in history but geared toward the future!

Banks County is a livestock and poultry area with farms occupying much of the land area. The number of business establishments in Banks County is well over 200. The businesses and industries with the most employment were retail, restaurants, hotels and other lodging facilities, health services, and the manufacture of apparel and other textile products.

Outdoor pleasures abound for everyone in Banks County! With 6 tennis courts, two ball fields, and one track for your enjoyment. If golf is more to your liking, try Pine Hills Golf Course located just off Ridgeway Church Road in Banks County.

Fishing is also a favorite. Catch the big one in Lake Russell, located along the northern boundary between Banks and Habersham Counties. You may also try your luck in the Watershed Lake located off Ridgeway Church Road.
