Welcome to Bowie, MD

The largest city in Prince George’s County, Bowie was once the site of a modest railroad town. Today, it is home to roughly 51,000 Bowie real estate owners. As testament to its long history, however, many historic landmarks are still standing on Bowie real estate, including Belair Mansion, an estate dating back to the 1700s that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Bel Air Stable, which produced such Triple Crown champions as Omaha and Gallant Fox, is now a museum open to the public, while the Don S.S. Goodloe house, built in 1915, stands as an African-American heritage site.

Bowie’s motto is “growth, unity, and progress.” This attitude has inspired a boom in new business, hotel, and housing developments like the Bowie Town Center. Completed in 2001, this central gathering place offers restaurants and shops in a Main Street setting. Add to this the city’s numerous golf courses, its proximity to the nation’s capital, and a minor league baseball team, and it’s easy to see why Bowie real estate is in such high demand. This is especially true among families, who are attracted to Bowie’s many public and private schools and the 355.5-acre Bowie State University.
