Welcome to Bradley Beach, NJThe borough of Bradley Beach is a beautiful New Jersey Shore community located near Asbury Park in Monmouth County. Just 62 miles south of New York City and 74 miles east of Philadelphia, Bradley Beach has long been a popular retreat destination for city dwellers, offering a laid-back atmosphere, fresh air, and calming views of the Atlantic. Although it is steeped in pirate legends and rumors of Captain Kidd’s buried treasure, Bradley Beach’s true history begins in 1871, when William B. Bradner and James A. Bradley invested in 54 acres of land that would first become Ocean Park, and then Bradley Beach. It was in the 1920’s that the small community gained a widespread reputation as a fun resort town and became popular among those looking for peaceful summer homes away from the city.
Today the borough has around 5,000 residents, but this number grows to 30,000 during the summer season, when the streets and beaches come alive with various social and cultural events, such as the summer gazebo concert series overlooking the ocean, an annual arts & crafts fair, holiday celebrations, clambakes and bonfires. There is never a dull moment in Bradley Beach; the Bradley Beach boardwalk connects to Asbury Park and other Shore communities, and is perfect for watching the sunrise, casual strolling in the evening, or dancing with friends and neighbors to the music of the night’s best performers. Also, Bradley Beach’s historic Main Street offers unique dining and shopping at locally owned restaurants, cafes, boutiques and specialty shops.
