Welcome to Anaheim, CA

The city of Anaheim is located approximately 40 miles southeast of Los Angeles, in Orange County, California. Long before Orange County became famous as simply “OC,” the region was founded by 19th century German colonists interested in growing grapes and producing wine. The Germans purchased the land for a mere $2 per acre, and named the area Anaheim—inspired by the nearby Santa Ana River, and the German word “heim,” which means “home.” The area served as wine country until 1880, when the grapevines were destroyed by an unwelcome insect pest. Other agricultural industries developed in their wake, such as walnuts and citrus fruits, which supported the residents of Anaheim into the 20th century. In 1954, Walt Disney brought Disneyland to Anaheim and changed the future of the city as a worldwide tourist destination.

Today Anaheim is considered to be a “resort epicenter,” featuring not only Disneyland, but also the Anaheim Convention Center, the Honda Center, which is home to the NHL Anaheim Ducks, and the Angel Stadium, which is home to major league baseball’s Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. In recent decades, the Anaheim Resort district has gone through major transformations, and now offers a lush, yet urban resort atmosphere complete with palm trees and pedestrian-friendly streets. To compliment these attractions, the city of Anaheim began construction of the GardenWalk in 2006, which offers casual outdoor shopping and dining along beautifully landscaped walkways. Altogether, the Anaheim Resort district allures over 40 million visitors to the city each year.

But Anaheim is not only a great place to visit; as home to over 340,000 residents, it is also a great place to live. For those wanting to relocate to Anaheim, the real estate market offers a wide variety of housing options in all of the city’s most popular residential areas. The eastside of town, known as Anaheim Hills, developed as California’s first master planned community. Today it is a family oriented community, offering great schools and recreational facilities, such as a Nature Center and Equestrian Center. Currently the area offers such a wide selection of homes in an array of sub-communities that there is literally something for everyone. Single family homes in Anaheim Hills are typically newer, the oldest having been built no earlier than the mid-1960’s, but even the oldest homes feature many renovations and modern upgrades. There is a good deal of new construction taking place, and sprinkled here and there are large, elegant custom multi-million dollar homes. Overall, the price range for single family homes in Anaheim Hills is $300,000 to over $6 million. Condominiums and town homes are also scattered throughout the area, many of which feature sophisticated and spacious floor plans. Condominiums and town homes in Anaheim Hills typically cost between $250,000 and $800,000.

Anaheim Hills is just part of what Anaheim, CA real estate has available for you. With such a wide variety of affordable housing, it is easier than ever to find your new dream home in Anaheim, California!
