About Monterey, CA

From early explorers and missionaries to present day guests, the Monterey Peninsula has captivated all who have visited. Monterey’s beauty and rich historical culture make it a unique tourist attraction as well as a very desirable place to live. While there are micro climates, Monterey is blessed with weather much like the Mediterranean – mild most of the year.

Monterey is California’s earliest state capital and is known for its historic buildings as well as Cannery Row, Fisherman’s Wharf, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, The Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art and the Maritime Museum. Additionally, the Monterey Peninsula is home to many of the worlds most prestigious golf courses. Also, it is becoming a known center for language via the higher education institutions as well as the AT&T international interpreter call center.

Annually the Monterey Peninsula is host to various educational, sporting and cultural events such as the AT&T Pro Am Golf Tournament, the Big Sur International Marathon, the Masters of Food and Wine, the Concours d’ Elegance, Indy Car and motorcycle races at Laguna Seca Raceway, the Jazz Festival, the Monterey Blues Festival, Bach Festival and numerous other functions.

As with the rest of California and the Nation, real estate values on the Monterey Peninsula have experienced downward pressure; however, several of the markets have shown significant improvement through the second quarter of 2009. While the R.E.O. and short sale business is still a significant portion of the total market, regular straight sales are being transacted. Our market could accurately be described as a conglomeration of micro markets. Clearly some of our markets have seen the bottom and are experiencing multiple offers; although others are still declining and buyers have a lot of opportunity.

Come for a visit and experience all that the Monterey Peninsula has to offer!
