About Palo Alto, California

As the “birthplace of Silicon Valley,” Palo Alto, California is one of the most interesting cities on every level. The environment can't be beat. It's surrounded by San Francisco Bay, has a beautiful view of the mountains, and at its north is the historic Menlo Park. Economically, it didn't just give birth to Silicon Valley but continues to be a cutting edge technological haven.

Many of the residential areas remain almost old-fashioned with tree-lined streets and historic buildings. Palo Alto is also distinctive in being its own municipality that owns and operates its own resources such as electricity, gas and refuse. Palo Alto, California has several upscale neighborhoods with citizens that are very well-educated, politically aware and civic minded.
