Tucked between Walnut Creek and Concord, the city of Pleasant Hill offers an often under-appreciated lifestyle and housing option with a number of fine restaurants, enticing shops, a movie complex, and the city offices in the revitalized downtown area.
Pleasant Hill, California is home to Diablo Valley College, one of the premier community colleges in the state. The large library is open to all and the recreation-community center offers an abundance of classes and activities. John F. Kennedy University, a private university, is also located in Pleasant Hill. Students attend the Mt. Diablo School District where all schools have been renovated and upgraded in recent years.
Recreational activities abound from the canal trail which winds through town to multiple city parks and a local YMCA with club and pool. Those who enjoy shopping can choose from SunValley, a large regional mall to The Willows, a smaller mall, as well as an abundance of local stores.
Much of the housing in Pleasant Hill was built in the 1950s and 1960s and these older homes have now been remodeled and upgraded offering residents the charm of older neighborhoods with tree lined streets and large inviting yards. One can also find a variety of condominium and townhouse projects as well as some newer neighborhoods.
