Civic Center Neighborhood of San Francisco, CA

Civic Center is located near downtown, a short distance from The Financial District. The Civic Center is one of America’s great architectural civic complexes. This grand collection of municipal buildings started in 1913, were inspired by the City Beautiful Movement, which sought to improve the urban environment and bring American cities to cultural parity with their European competitors. The Civic Center complex is the cultural heart of San Francisco. Visitors come to enjoy both the physical beauty of the buildings and world-class performances by the symphony, opera and ballet.
