About San Mateo, California

San Mateo, California is a large suburb of over 90,000 residents and is an ideal location due to its proximity to airports, San Francisco and to three major highways. San Mateo's downtown is filled with malls and smaller shopping centers, and is considered to be the premiere employment center for the San Francisco Peninsula. The Santa Cruz Mountains, marshlands and beautiful oak woodlands make up some of the land in San Mateo.

Home to the College of San Mateo, San Mateo might be a good place for a prospective college student to live. While houses might end up a bit pricey, there are plenty of apartments for rent at affordable prices for those looking to move here.
