The City of Torrance is as dynamic as it is diverse! The 6th largest city in Los Angeles County, it boasts a bustling downtown, safe communities and its own beautiful beach on the Pacific Ocean! There are approximately 30 parks within Torrance boundaries - including 41-acre Charles Wilson Park-- which offers a wide array of recreational options from baseball fields and batting cages, to a multi-purpose gym facility of over 18,000 square feet and an outdoor hockey facility. The popular Farmer's Market offers produce from 60 local growers and operates on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8am-1pm.
Torrance boasts award-winning schools, with 17 elementary sites, 8 middle schools, 5 high schools and 3 adult schools. Local businesses have partnered with the schools to provide additional resources to help deliver quality educational opportunities to Torrance youth.
There are numerous recreational options for children and adults through the parks and recreation program. Senior centers throughout the city have a full array of activities for Torrance's mature residents. The Torrance Cultural Arts Center is host to countless productions from school talent shows to dramatic theater and musical productions. Benstead Plunge is a public pool facility open year-round at the city center where residents can also enjoy a variety of classes from yoga to photography.
Torrance benefits from an ideally mild climate, proximity to two major ports (Los Angeles and Long Beach), its own airport and major shopping malls. Accessible to Los Angeles and Orange Counties, entertainment options are numerous with Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knott's Berry Farm, Hollywood and more just a short drive away!
With so much to offer, it's easy to see why Torrance has adopted the motto, "A Balanced City!"
