Named after Richard Little, an engineer who came to Colorado during the Gold Rush to help build a system of water canals to feed the farms of the growing metro area south of Denver, Littleton today has approximately 40,000 people. Not just a residential suburb, the city has an economic base that includes higher educational facilities as well as its own school district, a variety of industries and a great environment for small business. Its historic downtown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The city’s theatre productions are well-known throughout the metro area and frequently receive 4-star reviews. Housing includes historic homes from the 1800s, traditional 2-story Denver Squares and ranch-style one-stories in a variety of price points. With two Light Rail stops, Littleton offers easy access to downtown Denver. The city boasts one of the largest suburban parks in the U.S. – South Platte Park with over 660 acres of open space, bike paths and athletic facilities. Plus the Chatfield Reservoir provides water and recreation – including great beaches, trails and marinas.
