Living in Snowmass Village, CO

It’s not the natural landscape, however stunning, that grabs at your soul here. It’s the human element, the smiles you receive as you encounter a stranger-who-could-become-a-friend riding the chairlift or hiking the local trails. Here is a place where families, however you define them, can be together easily, with everyone finding their place; the kids splashing in the pool, the grown-ups playing a late-afternoon round of golf, and in winter, everyone on the mountain.

With sun 300 days a year, cool summer nights, an average annual snowfall of 300 inches, and relatively mild winters even at an altitude of 8,223 feet, Snowmass Village—a community of fewer than 2300 permanent residents—offers the best of all worlds.

Ski and snowboard the Snowmass ski area or take a free shuttle to the three other mountains in the area. Right out your door are free cross-country ski trails; the Snowmass Club, a full athletic, golf and tennis club; mountain biking; hiking trails; horseback riding; free summer concerts; a balloon festival; wine and food festivals; and even dog-sledding in the winter.

Real estate in Snowmass Village varies from slopeside studio apartments to elegantly refurbished single-family homes to 200-acre ranch estates.

Condominiums of all sizes abound in Snowmass Village and run from $500,000 for a studio to $5 million + for a spacious, new 4-bedroom, ski-in/ski-out townhome. Right at the base of the ski area is the new Snowmass Base Village, which, when completed, will feature 18 acres (nearly one million square feet) of luxury residential condominiums flanked by hip, new restaurants, cafes, retail shops, and conference, arts and events facilities. There are townhouses right on the golf course, with the fairways and ski area as window dressing. If it’s low-maintenance ownership you’re looking for, fractional residences offer deeded interest shares in luxurious condominiums. And of course, owning your own piece of slopeside paradise with 3200 acres of ski trails directly outside your front door can’t be beat.

Single-family homes typically start around $3 million. Many are perched up on the hillsides in friendly neighborhoods, tucked into the aspen groves with incredible views of the Snowmass ski area and Continental Divide. Others are ski-in/ski-out, in exclusive private communities, surrounded by miles of cross-country and snowshoe trails.

It is still possible to find building sites in Snowmass Village, though they’re becoming extinct. They start around $1.5 million; $4.5 million for ski-accessibility.

Real estate in Snowmass Village is just one option available to you when looking for homes in this fabulous resort town. This real estate market includes homes in nearby Aspen, Woody Creek, Old Snowmass, Basalt, Emma, El Jebel, Carbondale and Missouri Heights. With a market so healthy and diverse, it is easier than ever to find your dream home in Snowmass Village, Colorado.
