Quality of Life in Southington, CT

Located in the heart of Connecticut, Southington ranks “Tops” in the county for quality of life! It has been rated as having the best quality of life among cities and towns in Hartford County with populations above 25,000. In the overall ranking, which includes categories of quality of life, education and civics, Southington came in third. Quality of life is rated on the basis of preservation of open space, a high percentage of single-family homes as compared to multifamily dwellings, maintaining a low property tax and a low crime rate. This category also measured the town’s commitment to its library and how much the median cost of its houses increased from 1994 to 2003. High median household incomes and a high percentage of college graduates in its population were other factors that were considered. The rapid growth of Southington is based on its reputation of being a safe, cordial and progressive community.

Some other attributes Southington has to offer are quality medical centers and hospitals, over-55 communities, amusement parks, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, antique shops, museums, colleges, golf courses, day care and assisted living facilities. Some say it’s pretty much ideal!
