Attractions in Cedar Rapids, IA

Apart from business and careers, Cedar Rapids also provides its residents with a great variety of attractions, from historic landmarks and museums to shopping and outdoor recreation. The city is home to several cultural centers, such as the African American Historical Museum, the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, and the Iowa Masonic Library and Museum, as well as “living history” museums, such as the Linn County History Center and the Granger House Museum. Cedar Rapids has a vibrant arts community that supports the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, which houses the largest Grant Wood collection in the world, and the University of Iowa Museum of Art. Residents can also enjoy a wide range of theater entertainment at the city’s many performing arts venues, including the Paramount Theatre (home to the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra), Theatre Cedar Rapids, and Hancher Auditorium, as well as several community and small theater companies. On the days when it’s too beautiful to stay indoors, Cedar Rapids has plenty of parks and recreational facilities for the whole family to use; in fact, Cedar Rapids has the largest park system in Iowa with over 75 parks that offer every type of recreation from bicycling and baseball to ice-skating and snowmobiling. The city has several trails, such as 52 mile long Cedar Valley Nature Trail, the Cedar River asphalt trail, and the Sac & Fox National Recreational Trail. For golf lovers, Cedar Rapids has four municipal courses, four privately owned public courses, and three country club courses.
