Welcome to Chandler, AZ

The thriving community of Chandler solely exists because of its founder A.J. Chandler. In the late 1800’s, Chandler was a well known veterinary surgeon in this Arizona Territory and decided to take all of his profits and invest in what was known as the Chandler Ranch. Then, in 1911, he divided the land and sold them as agriculture plots. A brilliant marketer, Chandler catered to celebrities by building the San Marcos Hotel, a lavish golf course resort that attracted the likes of Fred Astaire, Al Capone, Gloria Swanson and Errol Flynn.

The combined agriculture and tourism helped turn Chandler into the city it is today. Although the agriculture days of Chandler are long gone, the land is now occupied by major employers including, Intel Corp, Motorola, and Microchip, allowing the local economy to continue to prosper.

Many who move to Chandler credit affordable housing and a small-town appeal as its greatest assets. The town is home to Chandler Fashion Square, Chandler Center for the Arts, and is also host to the annual Ostrich Festival, one of the largest festivals west of the Mississippi.
