Named one of the top ten Best Places to Live by Money Magazine in 2005, Chatham (comprised of the separate municipalities of Chatham Borough and Chatham Township) is an attractive suburban community conveniently connected to all major commuter destinations via train, bus, and highway. Education is a top priority, with the Chatham Public School System repeatedly attaining high marks in overall quality. As serene as it is picturesque, Chatham maintains a quaint, lively downtown with many fine specialty shops and excellent restaurants. There are numerous opportunities for cultural experiences in and around Chatham including art, gardens, music, historical sites, and theatre groups. Outdoor recreational enthusiasts will enjoy Chatham's numerous parks, as well as the National Wildlife Preserve, or “Great Swamp”, with miles of trails, abundant wildlife, and an Outdoor Education Center.
