Bucktown & Wicker Park - Popular Chicago Neighborhoods with Great Housing Options

Bucktown
Bucktown, just north of Wicker Park, is a neighborhood of brick cottages and comfortable three-flat condominiums. As the area has undergone a revival of popularity in the past decade, home buyers have more options than ever, and can decide between vintage properties as well as custom-built new condominiums.

Originally home to a large Polish community (many of whom were former farmers), the neighborhood gets its name from the goats kept by the area's first residents. After undergoing several decades of decline, Bucktown has become one of Chicago's most vibrant neighborhoods. Damen Avenue offers residents an endless choice of stylish boutiques carrying the latest fashions, as well as many options for late-night dining and entertainment. Those searching for a quieter atmosphere can visit any number of corner bars and restaurants offering everything from the exotic to simple comfort food.

Wicker Park
Wicker Park is perhaps Chicago's best-known neighborhood for exciting nightlife, adventurous cuisine, and cutting-edge fashion, but it is also home to some of the city's most beautiful residences. Homes in Wicker Park may be ornate Victorian mansions, humble cottages, vintage three-flats, or custom-built new construction. Wicker Park has become one of the city's most desirable residential neighborhoods in recent years and new condominium developments continue to rise.

Wicker Park residents are within easy reach of the Loop by rapid transit, but one never needs to leave the area to find excitement. The neighborhood still holds on to its history as an artist's haven, and live music, theater, and gallery spaces abound. The annual “Around the Coyote” festival showcases the best in Chicago's arts scene, and summer festivals ensure that residents will never go without excitement.
