Welcome to Smyrna, Delaware

Smyrna, Delaware, is located in Kent County about 12 miles north of the state capitol and about 30 miles south of Wilmington. This area of Delaware is rapidly growing but still has ties to the past with its historic downtown atmosphere.

The area of Smyrna was first settled prior to the American Revolution along the southern bank of Duck Creek. In its early beginnings Smyrna was a thriving merchant community centered around the crossroads of the two main thoroughfares running through the small town. Today Smyrna is at least 3 times its original size and continues to grow. Furthermore, its convenient location along the northeast and its proximity to Delaware's commerce centers in Dover and Newark, make Smyrna a desirable place to reside.

Downtown Smyrna's historic architecture provides many local points of interest including the Old Town Hall/Smyrna Opera House. Smyrna is also home to a number of parks & recreation areas including Blackbird Forest, Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge, Garrison Lake and Woodland Beach.
