About Des Plaines, Illinois

Des Plaines is an excellent transportation hub, making it the perfect location for a number of businesses as well as a large population of commuting workers. The Des Plaines River provided the first method of transportation for the city. Des Plaines'location on the river has prompted even more forms of transportation to come to the city. Commuters enjoy extremely close proximity to both O'Hare International Airport as well as major train stops for both the CTA “L” and the Metra Commuter Train.

Although the location of Des Plaines may be its greatest and most well known asset, the city also has a number of great amenities to offer its residents. The population of almost 57,000 enjoys the benefits that come from their location with a number of Fortune 500 companies located there as well as rapid industrial growth in recent years. This ethnically diverse city enjoys low property taxes and a Park District that maintains a water park, golf courses and a driving range. The city has also recently begun a new endeavor to brighten up the downtown area with new retail and residential spaces. With all these amenities it is easy to see why Chicagoans have been vacationing here for many years.
