Duluth Georgia Attractions

Duluth is a city with strong ties to its railroads. One of Duluth's most influential residents, Evan Howell, nurtured and developed the city into what would become a major artery of the railway from north to south Georgia. Upon the completion of the city's first railroad, the name of Duluth was chosen. Today, the city's Southeastern Railway Museum is home to antique railway cars for visitors to explore and enjoy, just as residents did 100 years ago.

While it's certainly a popular tourist destination, the Railway Museum is by no means the only sight to see in Duluth. Many attractions in Duluth are sure to keep visitors and residents occupied and excited for days at a time. One of the most popular of these destinations is historic downtown Duluth. Home to specialty shops, fine restaurants, and eclectic boutiques, the downtown district has something for everyone.

Despite its relatively diminutive 9.8 square mile size, Duluth features a well-respected golf course. The 27-hole Greg Norman-designed TPC at Sugarloaf course has been home to the annual BellSouth Classic golf tournament since 1997. Visitors may find the course's name somewhat humorous at first, but there's significance behind it. Before the land became a golf course, it was a ranch for breeding sugarloaf horses.

Duluth residents also appreciate the nearby Harry's Farmers Market, which will surely appeal to even visitors of the city. The market is an upscale shopping destination for a variety of foods from around the globe. A popular foodstuff is Harry's Cheesecake, which has become a local delicacy, and one of many reasons why life is good in the Atlanta suburb.
