Welcome To Eudora, KS

In February 1857, German settlers signed contracts with Shawnee Chief Fish to purchase 774 ½ acres from the Kansas River to the south for about a mile. In honor of Chief Fish’s daughter, they named this area “Eudora”, which means “giving” or “generous."

Eudora is located just off K-10 highway 6 miles east of Lawrence and the University of Kansas and within 20 minutes of the Kansas City Metropolitan area. It offers small town living while providing all the conveniences of being close to major cities.

A new elementary school, grades 1-5, was completed this summer. The new school opened in the fall of 2009. In October each year, the city hosts “Eudora Fest” which features crafts and art displays as well as food, music and entertainment.

With a low median house price, Eudora offers very affordable housing to the community. There are single family, multifamily and townhome living opportunities available. Aptly named, Eudora residents are giving and generous to their community. Eudora is a beautiful place to call home.
