Welcome to Newberry, FL

Newberry, Florida, is a town with many dimensions. A rich history and relaxed pastoral atmosphere gives this North Central Florida burg a palpable rural charm. At the same time, Newberry's rolling green landscapes and its proximity to the growing city of Gainesville have made it a much sought after destination, fueling growth and development and giving the town a powerful economic boost.

Newberry is just a short 10-minute drive from Gainesville, home of the University of Florida, the 50,000-strong institution that is the educational hub of the Sunshine State. In recent years, Newberry has seen an unprecedented burst of residential growth, as more people realize the advantages of making their home in the bucolic surroundings of Northwestern Alachua County, while still being able to enjoy all of the recreational and occupational opportunities that Gainesville has to offer. In 2005 alone, 800 new residential homes were built.

Today, Newberry has a population approaching 5,000, and a thriving business community which serves the needs of its upwardly mobile inhabitants. The medical needs of its citizens are served by Alachua County's four major hospitals, along with the University of Florida's internationally renowned Medical Center.

Leisure and quality-of-life issues make Newberry an even more attractive locale. The mild climate and extremely high percentage of sunny days make the area ripe for outdoor activity – the town maintains four pristine parks, and is within minutes of 40 more, including North Florida's many crystal-clear springs. Easy access to the major metropolitan areas of Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa, all within two hours by car, add to the recreational possibilities. Indeed, Newberry has become an ideal place to settle for those looking to get the most out of Florida living.
