Downtown Orlando is fast becoming a premiere place to live, work, and play in the U.S. Already the heart of Central Florida, the City Beautiful has several key projects underway that will advance the city well into the 21st century in terms of economic growth, dynamic business climate, and high quality of life for its residents. At the top of the list is the addition of a brand new arena intended to be the proud home of the NBA Orlando Magic starting in fall of 2010. Named the Orlando Events Center, the design for this world-class facility accommodates 18,500 seats, with capacity to host a wider variety of sports and other events, including arena football, indoor soccer, ice hockey, concerts and conventions. In addition to the construction of the OEC, the city of Orlando is refurbishing the Florida Citrus Bowl, making it more comfortable and accessible to a larger number of fans. The city of Orlando hopes that the OEC and Florida Citrus Bowl projects will serve as a catalyst for even more future commercial and cultural development, creating a thriving “cultural corridor.”
Another addition to this future “cultural corridor” will be a brand new performing arts center called the Dr. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center. Once open in 2012, the DPAC will be a major theater, music, and dance hub for Downtown Orlando and the entire Central Florida region. The world-class venue will host regular regional performances from the Orlando Opera, Orlando Ballet, and Orlando Philharmonic , as well as year-round traveling shows.
Aside from new sporting and entertainment venues, other Downtown Orlando improvements that current and future residents can anticipate include the addition of even more downtown Orlando parks and recreational areas, and new residential developments that will entice people to relocate to Downtown Orlando from all over the world. Downtown Orlando’s dynamic real estate market, which offers everything from sleek, low-maintenance condominiums to historic homes and elegant Orlando waterfront estates, is sure to benefit from these wonderful changes, which makes owning an Orlando home an even wiser investment than before. Purchasing a property in Downtown Orlando enables you to witness firsthand this magical city’s transformation into one of the nation’s best places to live.
