About Palm Bay, Florida Palm Bay is Brevard County's biggest and most populated area located south of Melbourne. Palm Bay is the ninth largest city in Florida, with over 93,000 residents. In the 1950's, people dreaming of retiring to Florida were able to buy lots platted and sold by General Development corp. This has resulted in an odd pattern of development with new homes built next to homes 20 years old, and vacant lots, many with large trees, scattered about. At build-out, forecasters say the city will have more than 250,000 residents in this fast-growing, moderately priced, informal community. The new subdivision of Stillwater, features eighteen 1.2 acre lots on two 2,170 x 350 foot water skiing lakes.
There are many recreational activities here for everyone to enjoy, whether it's at one of 20 city parks, fishing, boating, windsurfing, or swimming in the Indian River Lagoon or nearby ocean beaches, teeing off at three golf courses or, visiting the Turkey Creek Wildlife Sanctuary.
Palm Bay is a three-time finalist in the “All-American City” award, a competition that recognizes cities that have made substantial gains in addressing critical local issues.
