This area is most unusual, nestled between Sarasota and Tampa on the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay. It is home to some of the finest beaches in the world, and so different from its neighbors to the north and south. Sarasota’s art district is mere minutes to the south and the larger city amenities of St. Petersburg and Tampa are just over the awesome Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Another famous attraction is Disney World – which is less than two hours away!

Yet, Manatee County has barrier islands: Anna Maria and Longboat Key. Anna Maria is the quaint, cottage-filled island, with no high rise buildings. Longboat Key has a large number of multi-story condominiums on either the Gulf of Mexico or Sarasota Bay, all with sweeping views.

The median age of residents in Manatee County is lower than areas to the north and south, which helps provide a work force for the large number of environmentally sensitive industries. A thriving school system strives to keep pace with the population growth. A haven for locals and the “snow birds” of winter, Manatee County becomes the home town to residents soon after their arrival.
