Offering a hometown atmosphere, historic Sanford is the Seminole County seat, located on the shores of scenic Lake Monroe. Tourism has not directly affected Sanford, but the commercial boom it generated as a major distribution center is making its mark. A revitalized downtown business district, the new Seminole Town Center Mall and extensive land available for development have contributed to a population explosion.

Lake Monroe, the Wekiva River, the Central Florida Zoological Park, a number of festivals and community events provide many recreational choice for residents. Established neighborhoods offer every choice, from older Florida Cracker-style homes to new construction in well-planned developments.
