Living in Fairfield, OH

Situated along the northern loop of Interstate 275, Fairfield, Ohio is a growing and diverse community, which recently observed its 50th anniversary. It boasts a $10-million, 40,000-square-foot community arts center with a 250-seat theater, arts & crafts room, dance & fitness studio and art gallery. There is a nice blend of industrial and residential development offering all kinds of housing— deluxe apartments, condo complexes, starter homes and large contemporaries. There is also ongoing construction in a number of housing developments, including Emerald Lake on Pleasant Avenue (a 150-lot single- family subdivision); and Fairview Hills (proposed 27-lot single family). Some amenities here include more than a dozen parks, ball fields, a city golf course and a recreational complex. There are hundreds of events, festivals and theatrical productions here. Residents enjoy a strongly supported school system (its School district: earned in 2007 its first “Excellent” rating from Ohio Department of Education); active youth sports programs, and outstanding city services. Approximately 1,200 businesses are located in Fairfield, including top employers Cincinnati Financial Corp., Ohio Casualty, Mercy Hospital Fairfield, and the newly expanded Jungle Jim’s International Market featuring six acres of food under one roof. Fairfield was settled in 1788 by Revolutionary War veterans mostly from New Jersey; it was incorporated in 1954 and became a city in 1955.
