Ft. Ogelthorpe is located in Catoosa County in Northern Georgia. Even though the town is located in Georgia, it is considered a suburban community of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Other towns nearby include Chickamauga, Lafayette, Ringgold, and Rossville.
I-75 is easily accessible, which puts the town within 30 minutes drive of Chattanooga and less than a 2 hour drive to Atlanta, GA. Living here provides a quiet town life feel with easy and quick access to metropolitan events. There are beautiful views of rolling hills and Lookout Mountain.
With a population of less than 10,000, there are quiet neighborhoods and subdivisions to find a home in. All have access to great schools, shopping, sports, and churches.
Ft. Oglethorpe has an interesting history. Originally established as a city after WWII, it had been an army facility that was no longer needed and land sold off. The city also is near Chickamauga Battlefield Park, a civil war battle site. The military park of over 800 acres draws many visitors and preserves the history of the era.
Another local draw is the Colonnade. The Colonnade has a library, learning center, and a theater for events.
