About Franklin, Indiana

Franklin, Indiana is a small city found just 20 miles south of Indianapolis, which has been described as a pleasant mix of old and new. The city offers a strong manufacturing presence and is home to Franklin College, a small liberal arts school which was founded in 1834 and has over 1,000 students. The majority of the city's older homes—some of which are beautifully-restored, historic houses—are located in the downtown area, while the newer homes are concentrated on the city's north and east sides. Home prices fall generally between $100,000 and $250,000.

Franklin offers a wide variety of recreational activities including 10 parks with facilities for swimming, tennis, horseshoes, and supervised craft and hobby classes. In addition, there is adult softball, soccer, gymnastics, aerobics, an indoor walking program, and a summer club for kids. The Atterbury Fish and Wildlife Area, with facilities for camping, hiking, boating, fishing, and hunting is located only 10 miles south of Franklin.
