About Fremont, California

Fremont, California was made from the merging of five smaller communities; Centerville, Irvington, Mission San Jose, Niles, and Warm Springs. Fremont is located in the southeast of the San Francisco Bay Area in Alameda County. With over 200,000 residents living here, Fremont is a very diverse neighborhood containing the largest Afghan population in the United States and a large number of people of Asian descent. Historically, Fremont was the original home of California's movie industry and was where Charlie Chaplin filmed many of his movies. Economically, the town's biggest employer is a GM Assembly plant and the technology explosion has brought other companies into this town. Culturally, the town also boasts its own symphony orchestra and art gallery. Though it's a relatively upscale community, the average house costs less than $500,000.
